To celebrate the snowy weather that has fallen upon Nashville, today only Kayce Hughes is offering her women's coats for only $40. I've seen the khaki jacket in person and it's very chic and water resistant.
Wondering if it would be warm enough for my upcoming ski trip?
So we live walking distance to shopping on Robertson Blvd. While previously I had never shopped at Kitson (with Kitson Kids being the exception) I did enjoy the spectacle that was always happening around the store. In it's heyday, there were paparazzi pressed up against the glass snapping pics of Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, and even Victoria Beckham!
Now Kitson has announced it is closing all stores across the country. I don't know what the story is, maybe over expansion? The kids store has already closed, but it seems that the women's store on Robertson is where all the best deals are. I have been back three times and the stock is definitely flying off the shelves now that items are 80% off already significantly reduced prices.
I wasn't sure there would be anything since a lot of their merchandise is either kitschy or too flashy for my taste. But to my surprise there are some good things left. I scored a Paul Smith red pea coat. Originally $700 for $80, a Cashmere sweater originally $300 for $30 and silk pants originally $200 for $20.
There are still some Vivienne Westwood knit asymmetrical cardigans that I left behind. Originally $600 they are probably down to $100.00.
Go grab them! Who am I kidding I'll probably go back again!

A week ago, I went to the Spring Sing at my daughters preschool. Each class sang a song, and while there is something about children singing that can make the hardest heart melt, I think these teachers were trying their best to do us all in.
They started off easy with the littles ones, our Sprouts, wearing chicken hats and adorably singing "Los Pollitos Dicen," then, came "Here Comes the Sun" which got my lip trembling with their angelic rendition but no dice. Up next, the Rainbow class singing what else? "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", the Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole version of course. It took a lot of strength, but I held it together. Nice try Rainbow...
Finally, comes Daisy singing "She's Got A Way." I'm thinking "Huh? Why are they singing a cheesy Billy Joel love song? They're way off the mark." Then, as soon as they start singing the realization: "Oh no! Where's a tissue! Why didn't I wear waterproof mascara today?" And just in case any poor saps in the audience were still holding out, they each held up a letter to spell out:
"We Love You Mom"
Bravo Daisy, Bravo
Happy Mothers Day Everyone!
"She's Got A Way"
She's got a way about her I don't know what it is But I know that I can't live without her She's got a way of pleasin' I don't know what it is But there doesn't have to be a reason anyway
She's got a smile that heals me I don't know why it is But I have to laugh when she reveals me She's got a way of talkin' I don't know why it is But it lifts me up when we are walkin' anywhere
She comes to me when I'm feelin' down Inspires me without a sound She touches me and I get turned around
She's got a way of showin' How I make her feel And I find the strength to keep on goin' She's got a light around her And ev'rywhere she goes A million dreams of love surround her everywhere
She comes to me when I'm feelin' down Inspires me without a sound She touches me and I get turned around
She's got a smile that heals me I don't know why it is But I have to laugh when she reveals me She's got a way about her I don't know what it is But I know that I can't live without her anyway
This is a bit last notice but I thought I'd get the word out to any Los Angelinos out there. Madeline Weinrib is having a sample sale at HD Buttercup.
I love love love Madeline Weinrib's beautiful ethnic silk prints and rugs but they are motto motto moolah! With young kids, I just can't afford to buy investment pieces at the moment that are sure to get sticky fingerprints and yes even poop (Mr. Blue eyes has been having tummy troubles) on them. Even at 40-70% off I thought yeah right she's still out of my price range, but I decided to stop by anyway on Thursday. Well folks there are some really good deals here! Her cotton rugs are over 50% off so you're looking at about $329 for a 6 x 9 and $649 for an 8 x10.
Her 6 x 9 print rugs are perfect to layer over a neutral sisal rug to ground a coffee table or a dining room table to add a little color and texture while not as big an investment. The pillows range from $150 - $250 and there is fabric for $99 a yard. I still couldn't commit to the rug or pillows because see above...although I have been thinking of going back and buying a rug I love and then keeping it in the closet until the kids are older or we have more space. I did; however, buy a beautiful caftan for $150 that was originally $1400! and a lingerie bag to give as a gift that was $69 (original $250 and are still for sale on her website. So, check it out!
There was no-one there on Thursday but I bet today and tomorrow will be a different story.
