Madeline Weinrib Sample Sale at HD Buttercup

This is a bit last notice but I thought I'd get the word out to any Los Angelinos out there. Madeline Weinrib is having a sample sale at HD Buttercup.

I love love love Madeline Weinrib's beautiful ethnic silk prints and rugs but they are motto motto moolah!  With young kids, I just can't afford to buy investment pieces at the moment that are sure to get sticky fingerprints and yes even poop (Mr. Blue eyes has been having tummy troubles) on them. Even at 40-70% off I thought yeah right she's still out of my price range, but I decided to stop by anyway on Thursday. Well folks there are some really good deals here! Her cotton rugs are over 50% off so you're looking at about $329 for a 6 x 9 and $649 for an 8 x10.

Her 6 x 9 print rugs are perfect to layer over a neutral sisal rug to ground a coffee table or a dining room table to add a little color and texture while not as big an investment. The pillows range from $150 - $250 and there is fabric for $99 a yard. I still couldn't commit to the rug or pillows because see above...although I have been thinking of going back and buying a rug I love and then keeping it in the closet until the kids are older or we have more space. I did; however, buy a beautiful caftan for $150 that was originally $1400! and a lingerie bag to give as a gift that was $69 (original $250 and are still for sale on her website. So, check it out!

There was no-one there on Thursday but I bet today and tomorrow will be a different story.

Fantastic Foxes

Seems like the Fantastic Mr. and Mrs. Fox are having their day! I keep seeing the most amazing clothing and home items emblazoned with stylish, hip, and adorable foxes. Below are some of my favorites.

While I was busy looking for a halloween costume for Little Miss, I can across the most delightful shop on etsy called Wild Things Dresses. Her dresses and  teepees are all completely adorable but I am particularly smitten with the fox and ordered it up straight away. It's perfect for my daughter for Halloween because she doesn't like wearing things on her head, but it is so beautifully made, it can be a  whimsical dress to wear this fall winter!

Love this fox metal bookend from DesignAtelierArticle.

This fox from Moulin Roty is named Mr. Renard and he looks like quite the gentleman. He reminds me of the wily fox from Beatrix Potter's Jemima Puddle Duck.

Thinking maybe I might need this hat from Awberry to accompany Little Miss trick or treating.

Graphic and playful fox pillow from Robin and Mould

And while the fox isn't the star of this print by Mary Kilvert, somehow her rust colored presence really captures the mood of fall.

Layla Boutique - Brooklyn

Layla is a lovely little store in the Boerum Hill area of Brooklyn. It's a little off the beaten path, but has a great selection of Indian imported and inspired pillows, bedding, towels, jewelry, and clothing. They carry designer brands, such as John Robshaw and Missoni, as well as their own line of beautiful Indian print dresses and tunics.

Sowa Open Market - Boston

The next time you find yourself in Boston, stop by the Sowa Open Market. You'll find a small but tasteful selection of food and artisan vendors selling their wares every Sunday through October.

Don't miss Isabelle Abramson, a Boston artist who makes exquisite porcelain pottery. She sells her work at the market most Sundays, and a few select pieces at her etsy shop.
